The Steak and Stockport pie is their “signature” dish, always on the menu and quite rightly so. All other dishes change regularly and seasonally. I also agree that the puddings are great.

The no booking policy works for me. It feels more like a pub that services great food, rather than a pub masquerading as a restaurant. Despite them not taking bookings, we’ve never failed to get a table. Indeed, last time we were there, a couple of drinkers offered their table to enable us to eat – it all contributes to a very friendly atmosphere.

And the landlady does a good line in flamboyant jewellery too!
