On page six of the Spring 2011 edition of “Dales Matters” (which is the magazine that is distributed to all households served by Derbyshire Dales District Council), there is a feature on last year’s opening of Parwich Memorial Hall. The construction project was awarded £2000 of financial support by DDDC’s Community Fund, which went towards the insulation of the hall’s exterior walls.

Paul and Jacqui Jesson – Appeal for 9 Sycamore Cottages
Posted in Housing, People on Monday February 28, 2011 | 2 Comments »
We have received the following from Paul and Jacqui:
Firstly Paul and I would like to thank you for all your letters of support for our appeal regarding the Purchase of 9, Sycamore Cottages. Some of you were aware the Derbyshire Dales District Council meeting was taking place on the 17th Feb 2011; unfortunately the Council have decided we do not comply with the Covenant and therefore will not allow the purchase of the property.
Paul and I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Jane Harris for all her support and care with helping us try to purchase this house.
Once again ‘Thank You’.
Kind regards
Paul and Jacqui Jesson

Next Saturday is the bulk rubbish collection; the dustcart picks up at various points in the village. Remember if you leave rubbish to be removed, you must be in attendance when the wagon comes and load your rubbish, yourself. Don’t lose it, use it – even if you only have a small amount to get rid of.

2011 Census
Posted in Services on Saturday February 26, 2011 | Leave a Comment »
A census is a count of the population. We have had one in the UK every ten years to find out more about who we are as a nation. We ask everyone to tell us a bit about themselves to help census users decide how best to plan and deliver the everyday services we all need – like housing, education, healthcare and transport.
Census day is Sunday 27 March 2011 and you will receive your questionnaire in the middle of March. You will need to complete your questionnaire on or around this date so that we can take a snapshot of the population as it stands on one day – to give a consistent picture for the whole country.
The answers you give should be about the people living or staying with you on that day, even if you fill in your questionnaire before, on, or after 27 March 2011. You will need to complete it online, or fill in the paper questionnaire and send it back as soon as you have completed it.
If you have not returned your questionnaire by 6 April, a census collector will call after that date to offer any help you need.
You are required by law to complete the census. Personal information from the census is not released for 100 years.
For information on the 2011 census contact Chris Watson, Area Manager on 07801331345 or email on E107@census.gov.uk

Lewis Noble featured in The Week magazine

Renowned local artist Lewis Noble is featured in the latest publication of The Week Magazine.
The article can be found on page 27. The magazine highlights Lewis’s exhibition currently running at The Hart Gallery in London.
In works such as Cloud Shadow Falling Across Fields, Dovedale Wind or Looking Down From Coverack Point, Noble gives a vivid sense of weather: scudding clouds, waves crawling over rocks far below – and, above all, of huge skies with clouds that share equal significance with the rough landscape.
The exhibition runs until 2nd March.
