Do you think they are for buttonholes or hats? Anyway – we’ve missed the wedding now.
Give the weed a gentle tug to see if the taproot is yielding.
Middle goldfinch, to right hand goldfinch:
“I don’t like the look of yours much…”
or a three some at last
Really! Solid yellow is SO last season. Don’t they know it’s all about colour contrasts this spring?
If I’ve told you once, I’ve told you twice, three’s a crowd.
Do you think they can see me?
On your marks…… get set…….

Why don’t we surround ‘em
Middle goldfinch:
Okay, I’m going to try to explain this one more time, slowly: the referendum is about whether to stay with our current “first past the post” voting system, or move to one where we rank candidates in preferential order. Now this is the important bit – so pay attention – it isn’t anything to do with that green post. Nothing at all. First past the post is just a saying. As much as I’d like to see it myself, Nick Clegg, David Cameron and Ed Milliband will not be running through the garden to see who will get past that post first. NOW do you get it?
Oh, now this has got to win the fiver!!!
Couldn’t stop grinning at this.
Debbie – you are a funny girl.

I wonder what they will look like when they go to seed!
Right hand Goldfinch: bags the pretty one.
