Timings on Monday and Tuesday are guidelines.

Animal owners will want to be aware of the fireworks that are taking place on Monday evening.

Nethergreen Road will be closed from noon to 10pm on Tuesday 5th June, between the Jubilee Pond and Blanche Meadow Farm. Traffic will be diverted along Creamery Lane, past the Church to The Green.

Val & Alison (Catering 4 Parwich) would appreciate any help in making sandwiches – Memorial Hall from 11.30am on Tuesday.

All help is welcome in setting up (from 2pm) and clearing up after the celebrations on Tuesday.

If wet the Tea Party will take place in the Memorial Hall.

Boat Race – Children are to bring along the boats that they have either made at home or school.

Torches for the Torchlight Parade will be on sale at £2 from Denis at Rock House and also at the Tea Party.

Details of how to get your own copy of the Commemorative Photograph will be available on Parwich.org and on the notice boards.

Transport can be made available for anyone that is unable to get to the tea on their own. Please ring Caroline Healy 390378.

A big thank you to everyone who brought their cars for a wash or just donated money. Current total towards the cost of new goal posts and nets is over £300 with more still to be added in. The kids were brilliant and probably most of the time were wetter than the cars that they were washing.

We have worked in conjunction with the appropriate Agencies and followed their advice. The main purpose was to remove old debris and not current summer growth. There were several particularly bad choke points, which are now freed, this will now allow any significant amounts of water to flow down the stream course and out of the village.

Fortunes have certainly changed dramatically in the two leagues we play in. At the start of the season we could not get a win in the Tuesday league for love nor money. Thankfully now winning a few and we did not lose in the other league. (we did not win either).

Matlock Tuesday League.
Home – 22 May – Ashwood Park.

Up until recently Ashwood have been our ‘bogie’ team. However hard we tried we did not win. This now seems to have changed. Although we shared the games two each, the ones we lost were marginal. Our points tally was a lot better than theirs. 80 points to Parwich, 70 to Ashwood. We are I believe slowly making our way up from the bottom of the league.

Next match – Away – Chatsworth – 6.30pm 29 May.

Thursday League.
Home – Lafarge Hope – 24 May.

Having said a couple of weeks ago that a draw was very unusual along comes another. We did not do well in the three doubles games, losing them two games to one and trailing by 8 points. We were rescued by the singles games winning four out of the six. Result, exactly the same as the previous drawn match 112 each. I think we may well slip even lower in the league if that is possible!

Away – Matlock Park – 31 May – 1.45pm.

We are having an away friendly with Ashbourne Park this Sunday it is usually a good afternoon and the weather looks set for us also.

Believe it or not the Green may well be used on Saturday also. Not by Parwich folk mores the pity, but by the Sheffield Caravan group. I hope they enjoy the experience, you never know as we can’t get people from the Village interested perhaps they might join the club. After all Sheffield is not far away.

Independent people sought to fulfil governance role

Applications are being sought for two independent people to play a key role in the governance of the Peak District National Park Authority.

Under the newly adopted Localism Act the way all local authorities in the country deal with complaints about members of their authorities is changing.

The new rules are being introduced due to the Government’s decision to abolish the Standards Board for England, which previously looked at complaints against members which had already been considered at a local level.

Under the new roles local authorities are being asked to deal with all the standards issues at a local level. A key part of this process is to appoint independent people who will be consulted on decisions to investigate complaints and before any decisions are made on an investigated complaint.

They may also be consulted on standards matters, including by the member who is subject to an allegation.

The authority is advertising for two independent people to carry out the new role.

Applications for the posts can be made until 18 June, with interviews taking place on 22 June. The successful applicants will start their work in July.

They will receive an annual allowance of £849, plus any travel or subsistence expenses.
