Next Showing
Film Showings for our 2009/10 Programme have resumed
at St. Peter’s Church Parwich
while the new Memorial Hall is being built.
Previously we focused on mainstream block busters, but now we are introducing a more varied programme. Do let us know what you would like to see, either by putting comments below, or by speaking to Arnold, Martin or Peter or by emailing us on martin@orchidserve.com.
Our Regular Film Nights
Our regular Film Nights are being held in Parwich Church during the re-build of the Memorial Hall (usually, but not always, on the second Friday of the month); all are welcome, admission is free (unless stated otherwise); there are a raffle and refreshments at each showing; and headphones are available on request.

Because of our licence arrangements we can not advertise the film titles to the general public unless we make special one-off arrangements for specific films, however if you want us to email you details of upcoming films contact us on martin@orchidserve.com. Also let us know about any films you might want to see in Parwich.
One-off Film Showings
We can show one-off films for special occasions or as part of village events, such as Amazing Grace during the Church and History Society’s Slavery Season several year’s ago or the locally produced film on the Odd Fellows at last year’s St George’s Day celebrations. So let us know if you have any ideas.
If a film is being used for fund-raising and it is required that the film is named in the general publicity, specific arrangements need to be made for that film outside our normal license arrangements which has a cost that may vary from film to film.
Also if possible members of the parwich film team can support other groups to use the projector equipment, either by training in advance or helping out during your event. (You will need to contact us to discus what is possible during our temporary stay at St Peter’s, Parwich.)
Old 9mm film request
If you have any old cine film or old video of Alsop, Ballidon, Parwich or Pikehall we would love to hear from you. We are trying to find out what exists and, if not done already, get it transferred to DVD, so we can show some as part of our film nights.

Can I recommend three films for the Parwich Film which I think will be very enjoyable.
1) ‘As It is in Heaven’. Director, Kay Pollak, 2004. this is a brilliant Swedish film with subtitles about an international music conductor who returns anonymously to his boyhood home. This film has been running in various cinemas in Australia for 18 months continuously. Its that good!
2) ‘Gloomy Sunday’. Director Rolf Schubel, 1999. This is a war/love story set in Budapest in the 1930s. Its German with subtitles, and again, its brilliant. The Christchurch New Zealand Arts Centre has been running this film continuously for over seven years! Its that good!
3) ‘La Vie en Rose’. Director Olivier Dahan, 2007. This is the biopic of Edith Piaf. A beautifully made film that just won the leading actress an Oscar which was thoroughly deserved. French with subtitles.
