The relaunch of the Cyberscout Group in our area is proving very popular. The 1st Derbyshire Dales District is by far the largest District in Derbyshire and it is the least densely populated, Glossop to Baslow to Brailsford and Leek.
The idea behind it is to promote and provide Scouting to the young people in small villages throughout our area, making it a more convenient way to access to Scouting. All sections of the Cyberscout Group, Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts and Explorer Scouts will meet nine times a year and the Scouting programme can be downloaded from the Cyberscouts website. The meetings will be for full days and or weekends which will include assessing the progress of the young people on the last set of downloaded programme exercises, and preparation and introduction for the next set of downloads.
The meetings will integrate with National, County and District Scouting events and include visits to interesting and adventurous places. There will be the opportunity to train on at least one or two Badges at each weekend meeting for the young people that wish to progress in that activity or skill.
Already a number of children in the village have joined the Cyberscouts. Mandy Noble is one of the volunteer leaders & can be contacted on 778 or mandy@nobleinteriors.co.uk
The next meeting is on Saturday 21st February 2009, (10.00am till 3.00pm) with all sections meeting at 6th form block, Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School. If you want to reserve a place for a young person aged 6 to 18 years please contact us soon, we will do our best to offer scouting to everyone interested.
