Trevor Wragg the Master Craftsman dry stone waller from Derbyshire will be appearing on Sunday’s Countryfile. Presenter Adam Henson is supporting traditional rural skills by hosting the Cotswolds annual dry-stone walling competition featuring Trevor.
The programme is on Sunday, 16th October, BBC One at 18.25

I was relieved to see yesterday that speeding motorists were being brought to book by an unmarked police car, patrolling on the section south of Newhaven. Specifically an unmarked blue VW Passat, slightly grubby and battered looking. With a set of those hidden blue lights that come on to the front and rear of the car when stopping motorists.

Well done to Ben Chadfield on his latest successes. Ben won the Allyen Hardy Rosebowl for the best hedge growth at the Brailsford and District Ploughing & Hedge Cutting Society match. This was from a hedge Ben laid last year.
He achieved 2nd place in the Meynell and South Staffordshire Hunt hedge laying competition and also won the best hedge growth prize.

I’m contacting you with a cheeky plea for help/request for info from Comic Relief – I hope you don’t mind!Comic Relief would love to get Parwich involved in Sport Relief 2012 but I’m not sure who in your village would be able to help me do this.

People who cannot get to Peak District National Park HQ during normal office hours can speak to planners at an evening planning surgery on Wednesday November 2.
The National Park Authority has organised the planning surgery from 5pm to 8pm at its head office, Aldern House, Baslow Road, Bakewell, DE45 1AE.
People may seek general advice about a development they have in mind, or discuss one that affects them, or suggest ideas on how planning could help communities.
They can either book 20-minute appointments on 01629 816200 or customer.service@peakdistrict.gov.uk or they can just drop in and be prepared to wait.
Senior planning officers will be available along with John Herbert, chair of the authority’s planning committee.
John Herbert said: “We want to make it easier for residents to have a face-to-face discussion about a planning issue that concerns them. It’s often difficult for people who have other responsibilities during the day to speak to officers in normal office-hours.
“Officers will be there to advise on individual planning cases which as an authority member I cannot discuss, but I do want to hear residents’ views about planning in general. We’re very keen, as we make improvements in the planning service, that we have as many links with people in local communities as possible.”
Anyone who needs planning advice during office hours can contact the authority’s customer service team or they can see a duty planning officer any weekday between 9.15am and 12.45pm at Aldern House. Phone 01629 816200 or email customer.service@peakdistrict.gov.uk .

It seems to be Oil time again. I phoned around a few suppliers, so for info:

EMO (Shell) (01773 874015): 57.29p
Peak (01773 302064): 58.99pThese were for 500litre quantity. 1000 litres+ gets a slightly lower price.
I went for EMO because they’re the cheapest today and don’t need immediate payment, but just send an invoice with a couple of weeks credit.

Sandra & Judith would like to thank everyone who donated money, prizes and cakes for Macmillan’s Biggest Coffee Morning in the World, and to those who came along last Thursday.
A cheque for an amazing £954.50 is being sent to the charity.
£461.32 was raised from the coffee morning, Carolyn donated £50 from her card making and £443.18 was given by Andrea Godfrey, Sacha Wright and Sharon Bull from a charity walk they completed.

Residents in the Derbyshire Dales are being offered discounted crime prevention materials to help them keep their homes secure as the nights get longer. They will be available to buy from police stations in Matlock, Ashbourne and Bakewell.
The cost of the discounted items:
• Shed alarms £4 (RRP £8)
• Light bulbs indoor £2 (RRP £4)
• Light bulbs outdoor £4 (RRP £8)
• Letter box covers £2 (RRP £4)
• Door chimes £1 (RRP £2)
• Security kits Free (RRP £1)
The items are being provided as part of Operation Illuminate, a project by the Safer Derbyshire Dales Community Safety Partnership, which includes Derbyshire Constabulary and the district council.
Police Partnership Sergeant Garry Staples said: “We are fortunate to live in a low crime area, but residents can help to reduce the risk of having their homes broken into by taking some simple security measures. “By using ‘dusk til dawn’ light bulbs residents can make their house look occupied when they are out or away, and letterbox covers that can stop potential thieves from reaching through and stealing keys.”
Other simple home security measures include:
• Make sure windows and doors are locked when you leave the house or go to bed
• Make sure valuable items, such as mobile phones and laptops, are not left on display near windows
• Take house and car keys with you to the bedroom at night

The Peak District National Park Authority (PDNPA) is one of two national park authorities that have been chosen by the Government to pilot direct elections. The PDNPA is now recommending that all 22 of its council and parish members should be considered for election.
This would not affect the eight remaining members that are appointed directly by the DEFRA Secretary of State, as DEFRA have already ruled this option out.

Police are asking members of the community to report sightings of a white Transit flatback vehicle, displaying registration number: X276BLG. The vehicle was in the Kniveton area at around 2pm on Wednesday 28th September, visiting farms and asking for scrap metal.
If you witness/ed the vehicle in the area, please call 0345 123 33 33 and ask for your information to be passed to the Buxton (South) Divisional Local Intelligence Officer.

The event is to raise much needed funds for our school.
Due to recent Government Educational budget cuts, the PTA involvement in raising much needed funds for school is invaluable. Also the support from the parents and friends of Parwich Primary School is needed to ensure that our children of the village continue to receive the best education and resources
