DDDC Snow Updaate

Snow update – Derbyshire Dales District Council

Continuing poor weather conditions mean that Derbyshire Dales District Council’s scheduled stall market today (Monday) in Bakewell is cancelled. However, the usual Monday livestock market at the District Council’s Agricultural Business Centre in Bakewell goes ahead as planned.

The District Council’s four leisure centres in Ashbourne, Bakewell, Matlock and Wirksworth beat the weather conditions by opening as scheduled across the weekend, but the Boxing Day snowfall forced the suspension of Saturday’s scheduled waste and recycling collections in and around Ashbourne, Darley Dale and Baslow.

Bin teams were out first thing today (Monday) playing catch-up in those areas – though some side roads and streets may still be inaccessible.

The big message to Derbyshire Dales residents for this week is please leave out/put out your waste and recycling for collection – and the bin teams will get to you as soon possible. Residents should work to this week’s scheduled collection timetable, which can be found online at www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/waste via a postcode search.

Waste can be taken to household recycling centres at Ashbourne, Darley Dale and Waterswallows, Buxton.

* Derbyshire County Council are responsible for gritting roads – and snow updates and gritting information can be found on the homepage of their website at http://www.derbyshire.gov.uk

Note: Our bins (blue and green bins and food caddies) are, weather permitting, due for emptying on Wednesday as normal.
