Pump Hill Meeting

Notes of Meeting to Discuss the Future of Parish Council Land off Pump Hill 23 February 2015 at Parwich Memorial Hall

Over 50 residents were in attendance.

Peter Trewhitt opened the meeting on behalf of the blog team and introduced Councillor  Simon Spencer. Cllr Spencer outlined the purpose of his role and emphasised that he was there as an independent chair.

David Wigley outlined the process of acquiring the land when he was Chair of the Parish Council. Cllr Spencer then opened the meeting for comments.

After considerable discussion the following points were agreed:

  • the land should remain as garden indefinitely
  • that the Shields family are regarded as the preferred custodians
  • should the Shields decide not to exercise their right of pre-emption, then this would be opened up again for consultation.

The full notes of the meeting can be read here: (more…)

YNOT 2015

It’s that time of year again, (no I’m not talking about Christmas), its time to put on your wellies and shake the cobwebs off your tent, its almost time for YNOT Festival 2015.

The fields around Pikehall near Parwich will be transformed into a mix of live music and entertainment with plenty of hot and cold food. There are camping facilities, toilets and showers available in the fields beside the festival. The line up for this years YNOT Festival also includes Saint Raymond, Nick Mulvey, Rae Morris, Pulled Apart By Horses, Slaves, We Are The Ocean, The Amazing Snakeheads, Honey Blood, Gengahr, Jagaara, Ruen Brothers, Fearless, Vampire Killer, Allusondrugs, The Academic and King Pleasure & The Biscuit Boys.

The tickets for YNOT 2015 are currently on sale but tier 1, costing £84.50 have already sold out due to the increasing popularity of YNOT. Tier 2 is at £89.50 and tickets for tier 3 cost £94.50.

Road Conditions?

Well the white stuff is back. At present it is not settling in The Village, but it will be on higher ground.

Buxton Weather Watch report the Cheshire Police are saying the Cat & Fiddle route is closed. Do add comments to this post if you experience any travel difficulties. Temperatures around freezing are forecast for tonight, with the risk of more wintry showers.

Local views help to shape new dog orders plan

Derbyshire Dales District Council has responded to the views of local people on proposed dog orders that could become law in public spaces across the Derbyshire Dales from 1 April.

The District Council’s Environment Committee will consider plans next Thursday (26 February) to adopt exclusion orders and a dogs-on-leads policy in certain areas – and give council workers powers to issue fixed penalty notices to dog owners who fail to remove dog mess left by their animals in public places. The proposed orders seek to balance the needs of responsible dog owners against the interests of those affected by dogs, particularly children.

There’s a cost and efficiency element to the proposals too: In addition to spending £830,000 on street cleaning every year – including the cost of emptying 350 dog waste bins across the district – dog fouling complaints have doubled in the Derbyshire Dales in recent years. (more…)

Parwich Parish Council would like to advise about the forthcoming parish council elections in May 2015.

The nomination pack and set of forms are now available to view and download from Derbyshire Dales District Council’s site:

http://www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/your-council/elections/2015-elections/town-and-parish-council-elections*

If you are eligible and interested in standing as a member of Parwich Parish Council in May 2015 then please follow the instructions found through the above site regarding the election process and deadlines. Please note applications must not be made to the clerk to Parwich Parish Council.

Parwich Parish Council should consist of 7 members council (to be quorate at meetings there must be at least three parish council members elected in May).

Some members of the present parish council may not choose to stand for another term of office; therefore, if insufficient interest is received by Derbyshire Dales District Council at the elections from present members of the parish council and members of the parish, to be members of Parwich Parish Council, then Parwich parish may be without a parish council.

Please give consideration to this notice, to viewing the information regarding the application process and the implications of possibly being without a parish council.

S Hampson
Clerk
Parwich PC

* Deadline for submissions is 4pm on 9 April 2015.

Flood Risk Strategy

Derbyshire County Council

Flooding and flood risk in Derbyshire – tell us what you think

Local residents are to be asked to give their views on our plans for co-ordinating the management of flood risk in Derbyshire.

By law we have to publish a Local Flood Risk Management Strategy (LFRMS).

The LFRMS covers things like responsibilities for managing flooding and flood risk, sources of funding available and how our flood risk management team can support the planning process as well as how we prioritise co-ordinating the management of flooding incidents.

The LFRMS also provides general information about flooding, how people can help themselves and who to call in the event of a flood.

Have your say on our LFRMS by completing our consultation questionnaire

The closing date for responses is Monday 16 March 2015.
