Thousands of starlings gathered around the giant horse chestnut in the churchyard this evening, the beginning of a dramatic murmuration difficult to capture because their speed of flight. They have been congregating for the last three or four days.

It has been good seeing the starlings visiting the feeders in my garden over the last few days. Though I have had to top them up three times today.
Interesting that we haven’t seen many starlings about in Parwich over the last few years, but now they turn up en mass.
Same at Alsop too Peter. I saw a giant murmuration of starlings settle on the spinney due E of Cross Low while putting my hens away late afternoon. Many of their “outriders” like to roost in our cherry laurel.
They are up in Rathborne croft too. I woke them up at 11pm last night when I got home from work.
Nice to see them not so keen on their droppings all over the vehicles
I am in that area on Wednesday. What time should I get there please?
Hi, they start to gather at dusk, so probably aim to be here approx. 4.45, the murmuration usually becomes more dramatic as it gets darker.
Brilliant thanks.
Mary
