Parwich Wakes week is nearly upon us – to find out what is happening and where view the summary below:
Saturday 27th June ‘Wakes Saturday’
9.45 am Oddfellows’ procession Starting from the Sycamore.
11.00 am Oddfellows’ Service in St Peter’s Church. All welcome.
1.15 pm Oddfellows’ Dinner in the Memorial Hall
11.00 am to 2.00 pm Village Market on the Green.
6.00 pm Fancy Dress & Carnival (Assemble at the School steps.)
6.15 pm Grand Fancy Dress Carnival (Procession round the village ending at the Green)
7.30 pm Hog Roast & Entertainment on the Green (Entertainment: Ashbourne Brass Band Concert and Chris Houlihan)
Sunday 28th June
11.00 am The Campsite ‘Songs of Praise Service’ Parsons Croft
12.00 noon Fun and Games with the Campers. Parsons Croft
6.00 pm Treasure Hunts around the Village. Start on the Green; end at Legion
8.00 pm Wakes BBQ at the Legion.
Monday 29th June
Children’s Sports at 6.30 pm Nethergreen (Open to any children wishing to take part.}
Tuesday 30th June: The 38th Annual Parwich Hill Race
(Starting and finishing at The Sycamore and run over Parwich Hill and roads around Parwich)
7.00 pm Local Ladies’ Race (All local ladies are able to race)
7 .30 pm Junior Hill Race (Local Children are defined as those who were, or still are, eligible to attend Parwich School. (14 Years old and under)
8.00 pm Senior Hill Race (Entry £3)
Wednesday 1st July
6.00 pm until about 9.00 pm Fun and Games Evening on Parson’s Croft. (Parwich Oddfellows)
Thursday 2nd July: Children’s Film Night
6.30 pm Children’s Film Night (Shaun the Sheep) Parwich Memorial Hall
8.00 pm Annual Ball Race Pump Hill (balls available from Carnival Committee members)
Friday 3rd July End of Wakes Week ‘Live Music Event’
8.30 pm till Midnight: Live Music Event with ‘Big Lix’ Parwich Memorial Hall (tickets £5 and available from the British Legion or any Carnival Committee member)
