A THANK YOU FROM PARWICH FIRST RESPONDERS … AND WHY NOT JOIN US???
We would like to thank all those villagers who have helped when someone has become unwell – you know who you are – and the community spirit in this village is fantastic – thank you.
For those of you who don’t know about Parwich First Responders we are a group of 15 or so villagers who have been trained by East Midlands Ambulance Service. They ‘employ’ us and insure us – after a 999 call has been received from our immediate area, if they feel it is appropriate, they call us and we respond.
The present First Responders are a group of people who allocate some hours in the week when they are available, and all are trained to give life-saving support in emergencies – often the ambulance can take half an hour to get to the village. Care in those first few minutes can make the difference between life and death, and can also improve the long term outcome of other conditions.
Good basic first aid, the use of oxygen and possibly the defibrillator in cardiac arrest, can make an enormous difference to the survival and well-being of a villager. This could be a member of your family, or a neighbour or friend. We try to cover most of the week but in the early 2lst century when everyone is over-stretched and are committed to holidays and family etc., this is often not possible. The more First Responders we have, the greater cover we can give, and the safer we can make our village. Training is not difficult and after a short training the First Responder is ready to help.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE A FIRST RESPONDER?
EVEN IF YOU CAN ONLY BE ON CALL OCCASIONALLY YOU COULD HAVE A MAJOR EFFECT ON THE HEALTH OF ONE OF OUR VILLAGERS. DO PLEASE CONSIDER IT.
Do give us a call …. Martin and Jean on 390529, or nitram@w3z.co.uk
Note: The First Responders can only come out to you if they are requested by the Ambulance Service. In an emergency DO NOT RING the First Responders, RING 999
Huge THANKS to Jean and Martin for taking such great care of my mum, Lynette Coyne, last weekend.
It’s really comforting to know that the village has such great volunteers that can come to the aid of someone in need.
You are life savers!
