There is a drought of news from Parwich, Pikehall and Ballidin in this week’s stunner. So far I have found only one mention of Parwich; well done Elizabeth Moorcroft for gaining a third prize in Ashbourne Farmers’ Club’s Intermediate Shorthorn Dairy Cows class at the new stock judging last Friday at Rough Grounds Farm, Cubley.
Alsop tried to make up for the rest of the villages but even then its news was a little out of date, over 60 years out of date. The Memory Lane page has a very fine picture of Alsop Moor Quarry and the old lime kiln in the snow (where Rivendale Caravan Site is now), and some of William Bunting’s recollections of the winter of 1947.
