At long last, Parwich has joined Alsop, Ballidon and Pikehall in having its own entry on Wikipedia. The page only contains fairly basic information at present, but this will doubtless be added to in due course.

It is interesting that the idea that the William Evans bought the Parwich Estate to use the Hall as a summer retreat occurs in several books, but is most unlikely.
It is more probable that he was primarily investing in land, and coincidently the gift of appointing the vicar of Parwich and the Hall came with it. It is thought that previously Hallcliffe was the vicarage, but this would not have been grand enough for the Evans family. He usually appointed a relative or family connection as vicar and through out the nineteenth century the Hall was used as the vicarage.
It continued as the vicarage until William Evans’ descendant the Rev Claude Lewis solid his share of the Parwich Estate in early twentieth century.
Does anyone know how to update Wikipedia entries?
It’s not too difficult, Peter. Just click on “Create Account”, set up a User ID & Password, then click on “Edit Page”. There are a few simple formatting conventions to learn, but you’ll see links to these as you step through the process. They also like it if you cite your sources, by the way.
