Just a point of interest – Gulyas is a Hungarian national dish. Gulasch is an Austrian national dish. There the similarity ends. What is known in Austria as Gulasch, the Hungarians refer to as Porkolt. After that things get really complicated!
This is the recipe from my grandmother and mother, using only the finest quality Kotanyi paprika.
As a little girl, it was always my job to peel and slice all the apples and to damp the cloth that the strudel was made on. Woe betide me if I made it too wet, because then the pastry would be soggy.
