Derbyshire Constabulary is launching a recruitment campaign for Special Constables across various locations in the High Peak and Derbyshire Dales. Special Constables are unpaid volunteers who receive training so they can work closely with regular officers to help police their communities. Applications are welcomed from people of all backgrounds and walks of life. Special Constables must agree to volunteer for a minimum of four hours per week.
Community Safety Inspector Tony Dales said: “We’re holding these events to highlight the valuable contribution Specials make to the force and the communities in which they serve.” “Being a Special can be an extremely rewarding experience and it would be great to see local people who are interested in developing their skills and helping their local neighbourhood.”
An information event takes place between 4pm and 8pm on Friday 6th March 2009 at Ashbourne Police Station. This is a chance for people to find out more, pick up an application form and meet current Special Constables.
