This evening saw the AGM of the Memorial Hall Management Committee, with an excellent turnout, around 70 – so more chairs had to be found. We were brought up to date with the current level of money raised, another £198,000 has been applied for through a range of grants and trust – we are awaiting news of these and there are more grants being applied for. There was a vote of thanks to the committee for all their hard work with a spontaneous round of applause. A few questions were asked and clarification given by the Chair – Mike GP.
Once the Chair and Treasurers reports had been read it was election time. With no-one else wishing to stand the existing committee were re-elected – Mike GP, Amanda, Ed, Sandra & Janet.
The committee is swamped with work and it would be an enormous help if there were a few more offers of help to write letters and submit bids to different grant bodies. It is not a difficult task, you will be given details of which grant to apply for, sample paperwork of other bids that have gone in & then you just have to write the bid to fit the grant criteria. Nia & I are currently working on a bid with a group of 12-18 year old’s applying for funding available to the Youth. Amanda wrote a letter last week to Dales Housing and they have just awarded the new build £1500 from their Community Fund.
