The Y-Not line-up is shaping up rather well, I must say. Second on the bill to the Young Knives on Sunday night, we’ve got The Rascals – a band led by Miles Kane, who also partners Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys) in the Last Shadow Puppets. Lots of people have bought the Last Shadow Puppets album, but not many have bought The Rascals album – and I think that’s a shame, as it’s rather good!
Of the other acts, Detroit Social Club (Sunday) have been making waves in certain clued-up corners – and it’s good to see the Whisky Cats returning on Friday, as they were one of my favourites from last year. The Virgin Marys and Zambula also went down well last year, so hopefully I’ll get the chance to find out what I missed.
Finally, I’m delighted to see that Little Lost David will be playing the acoustic stage on Friday. Almost no-one has heard of him – but a friend introduced me to his music last year, and I think he’s blooming great: intense and dramatic and unique.
I agree with Mike A – the Whiskey Cats were a riot last year. A must-see outfit!
The Y-Not people have just announced the Saturday night headline act. It’s…. Noah and the Whale! They had a Top 10 single and a Top 5 album last year, which makes them the biggest act ever to come to Pikehall…
Latest additions to the Y-Not line-up include Frank Turner (returning for a second year), Esser and Dananananakroyd.
Good to see the Y-Not Festival featured in today’s Guardian – it’s tipped as this year’s best festival for “campfire singalongs”!
