You can have a chance to give your view on policing tomorrow, Thursday 13th August -10am-4pm in the Horse and Jockey Yard, Ashbourne.
‘Have Your Say’ was introduced seven years ago as a way to find out what the public thinks about the police service in the county, this year will focus on neighbourhood policing and public confidence in the police service.
Last year, 1,921 people were questioned at 18 events across the county, during which 1,528 people (85 per cent) were ‘very confident’ or ‘fairly confident’ in Derbyshire police. Of those who took part, 681 people (42 per cent) thought that crime was reducing ‘a lot or a little’ in Derbyshire, 560 (35 per cent) thought it was ‘about the same’ and 378 (23 per cent) thought it was increasing ‘a little or a lot.’
Chief Constable Mick Creedon said:
The Have Your Say series is the most effective way to reach the people of Derbyshire. It also provides residents with an ideal opportunity to meet the officers who patrol their streets every day. We hope to speak to people of all ages and backgrounds and I look forward to hearing residents’ feedback.
Chairman of Derbyshire Police Authority, Janet Birkin said:
The Have Your Say programme is the largest public consultation exercise undertaken by Derbyshire Constabulary and the Derbyshire Police Authority and, as always, we will be examining very closely the feedback we get and ensuring the public’s views are made known at all levels within the force, including our Safer Neighbourhood teams.
