Again it has been a quiet week for news from our area: Alsop, Ballidon, Parwich and Pikehall. However the Ashbourne News Telegraph is now in the Shop or can be seen on-line.
Here are some items that might be of interest to our readers.
- p.1 & 3 Ashbourne Shrovetide football is being used as part of Derby’s campaign for Pride Park to be a 2018 World Cup venue.
- p.3 Readycall is calling for cash. Providing a support service to vulnerable members of the community, they have no shortage of volunteers and people needing their help, but they do not have the funds to keep the service running.
- p.4 Thefts of underground copper cable from the BT landline system continue in the area. Thieves are using vehicles to pull the cables out of the ground. If you see anything suspicious, report it to the Police.
- p.5 The Autumn Term for adult learning starts on 21st September; brochures can be obtained from Ashbourne Library or by phoning 08456 058 058.
- p.6 Ashbourne Sub Aqua Club celebrates its 30th Anniversary.
- p.6 Find out about Kniveton’s history at a three day event in St Michael’s Church, Kniveton this weekend. There is also a village garage sale there on Monday.
- p.8 Debbie W’s Volunteering column talks about Health Champions: a group dedicated to helping individuals making small changes in their lives that will result in substantial health benefits.
- p.24 & 25 Congratulations to A-level and AS-level students on their results, particularly from PARWICH.ORG’s perspective to Catherine B on her straight As at AS-level.
