Hi, as a family we have had 2 wonderful summer holidays in Parwich and quite a few nights in the pub and British Legion! I regularly log on to your site to keep in touch with what’s going on in Parwich.I will be staying in Cowdale for a week’s holiday from the 6th March and I was wondering if any of your residents would be interested in joining me for walks in Parwich and the surrounding area? I’m not too familiar with the peaks so someone with knowledge of the area would be ideal. I’m pretty fit, so distance is not an issue.I would be thankful if you could find a small place for my advert on your wonderful website? Many thanks Derek 07888693692 or email me at desneale@sky.com

Hi there,
You might also want to check out the Alstonefield website (a village near here) because I believe they have two walks a week where anyone can join in.
Debbie
PS – I work, and I’d only get you lost!
hi debbie, many thanks for your reply ive got a few intresting leads about walks near parwich, which im looking forward to!,derek
Hi, just reiterating Debbies suggestion that you check out walks around Alsonfield- there are many varied and lovely walks around this village which we do regularly- one huge advantage is The George (emily@thegeorgeatalstonefield.com) a perfect venue for a post walk drink or lunch in front of a roaring fire. The pub sells an inexpensive guide to walks around the village published by the Alstonfield walking group, many of which include the routes through the various pretty limestone dales in the area. We have walked most of these now and its hard to choose a favourite but one of ours is walk 8 which is about 5 miles and takes in the 14th century church in Wetton. The George also has an excellent farm shop facing the car park where you can buy locally produced meat as well as home made bread and a selection of jams, chutneys, flour, cereals and ice cream. At weekends though, booking is essential if you plan to eat at The George and lunch service finishes at 3. Hope you enjoy your walks!
hi amanda, many thanks for your reply i will go to alsonfield and take the walk you suggested, derek
Derek, the Peak Park do some guided ranger walks. There is one on March 7th, from Tideswell (Tideswell Picnic Site) 10.30-4.30. It’s a 10 mile strenuous walk across open access land, steep ascents and descents with magnificent views of the White Peak. You need to bring a packed lunch, drink etc.
Check out their website http://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/index/visiting/ranger-walks/rangerdisplay.htm?ID=20847
Another idea – if one day you don’t mind paying for a guide there is an interesting walk from Youlgreave which passes through 6 Peak District villages, all exuding their own very different charm & character. As well as the villages, you walk through lovely dales and rivers along the way (so be prepared for mud in inclement weather!). The route goes past the ‘Nine Ladies Stone Circle’ before descending back into the peaceful Bradford Dale and back into Youlgreave. The charge is £50. His website states that his experience comes from being a Peak Park Ranger.
