Minutes from the Tissington Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team Governance Meeting held on Wednesday 9th December 2009 at Fenny Bentley School at 7.30pm
1. Welcome and Apologies.
Sgt Steve Edwards opened the meeting and welcomed all attendees. Minutes from the last meeting were distributed and agreed.
Parking at Tissington village (fishpond area)
KC explained that the DDDC were very keen to help solve the issue of vehicles parking on the road outside the village hall and fishpond. The representative Harfan Kapoor from DDDC, Sir Richard Fitzherbert and the Police were in the process of arranging a meeting to discuss the matter before the end of the month.
Quiet Lanes
PC Ian Cooper would be furthering his investigations regarding the above and will report back at the next meeting with his findings.
Redundant Signage
Form 421 to be submitted to Highways Dept.
Priority Profile Update – Op Brougham
PCSO Kate Cleveley reported that the Dovedale Car park owner had now placed a chain across the entrance, there had been no recent incidents reported of asb or litter but after a routine stop check of a vehicle on the car park there had been an arrest and warnings regarding drugs had been given. Mobile patrol monitoring would continue. Frequent visits by the SNPT had resulted in people being more aware and it had a very positive affect as their comments indicated that high visibility patrols were what were needed. The issue of litter and asb may reappear in the summer months but at the present time the Priority Profile should be closed, and review the situation later in the year.
The request to close Op Brougham down was carried.
Issue Update (mini Priority Profile)
BW expressed her concern regarding a lorry that had lost its way using SAT NAV. This was a ‘one off’ but maybe a sign could be put in place to deter it happening again.
DC reported that a ‘scam’ regarding overpaid Income Tax was an issue. He asked if the Police were aware.
PC Ian Cooper stated that he was aware and that under no circumstances should any resident give details to the callers.
Sgt Steve Edwards explained the ‘Boiler Room’ scam to the meeting and that the information had been sent out on Ringmaster.
He also explained that ‘Farm & Rural Community’ stickers were available at the Police Station or via KC; the stickers are double-sided and useful to put onto tractors. Signs with the same information would be put up.
Sgt Steve Edwards stated that the ‘Selective DNA’ marking system was available and there were 20 kits to be given out. This would be on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. PCSO Kate Cleveley would be putting all the information in the next newsletter in January.
Any Other Business
Sgt Steve Edwards explained that Section Inspector Bryan Hall wanted to relay to the residents that the area has very little crime and a ‘snapshot’ from the Tasking Meeting reflected this.

Is the Tissington Forum going to look at Brackendale Lane with a view to making this a quiet lane. It is flipping dangerous when you’re on a bike with traffic racing to Ashbourne?
