At 1.40pm on Wednesday 30th June, an elderly lady was shopping in the supermarket on King Edward Street, Ashbourne, (Sainsbury’s) when she was approached by an unknown male asking questions to distract her from her shopping trolley. When she returned to her trolley, she noticed her purse had been stolen out of her bag.
The male is described as white, aged between 20-30 years, approx 5’6″-5’7″ tall, possibly Polish due to accent.
Please ask your elderly friends and relatives to be extra vigilant whilst shopping and report anyone acting suspiciously to members of staff at the store. Secure all purses/wallets/handbags. Purse chains are available from the enquiry office at Ashbourne police station.
