Minutes from the Steering Group Meeting held on Monday 27 September 2010, 7.30pm at Kniveton Village Hall.
Sgt Edwards opened the meeting and thanked all present for their attendance. PCSO Cleveley read out the minutes from the previous meeting.
Parking at Tissington Village
A meeting took place at Tissington Hall to discuss the Tissington Traffic Plan (TMP) with interested parties attending. All aspects of the issue of parking were discussed, but are still ongoing.
Parking at Kniveton School (Priority Issue)
SE explained that a letter had been received from a local MP regarding the parking issue outside the school after being contacted by a parent. A report had been sent in reply, pointing out that the issue was longstanding and a solution needed to be found. SE added that the DDC Environmental Highways Dept. were now looking at a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO), this would mean the extension of the zigzag markings and placing of appropriate signage as soon as it had been put out for public consultation and approved by all appropriate parties. Civil Attendants would be able to attend and deal with any offences. Until the TRO is accepted our ‘hands are tied’.
Any other business
SE informed the meeting of ‘Community SpeedWatch’. This scheme was up and running in many of the villages. The training would be given by the Sgt and then the volunteers actually use the equipment and fill in the appropriate paperwork. A PCSO would be in attendance to assist. It was pointed out that there would be no enforcement, but a letter is sent out to the driver to inform them of their speed.
DS asked if the static cameras were being shut down. SE replied that this may be under financial review in October. BW asked if you can tell if the cameras are ‘out of action’. SE replied that there should be a sign indicating this to drivers.
SE stated that lead thefts from churches was an issue. Mappleton church had been ‘hit’ three times recently. Use of SmartWater was part of the ecclesiastical insurance conditions, and the signs supplied by the company should be displayed clearly outside all church buildings. SE explained that letters referring to lead theft had been distributed by the SNPT to all properties near to the churches in all villages.
SE continued with a breakdown of crimes in the area.
8 crimes were reported during the last month.
2 dwelling breaks at the Bentley Brook Inn at Fenny Bentley and the Dog and Partridge at Thorpe. These crimes were being dealt with by the Volume Crime Team.
2 drugs offences at Spend Lane Thorpe.
3 thefts of lead at Mappleton Church.
Theft of a vehicle (just off Ashbourne Section) this was dealt with by Bakewell Section.
RF stated that he had experienced an incident of oil missing from his tank at his home. He thought it may have been around 200 litres missing. SE explained the various ways of extracting oil from domestic tanks and assured the meeting that the Police would be watching for trends.
KC closed the meeting and the next date was arranged.
The meeting will be held at Parwich Village Hall on Monday 13 December 2010 at 7pm.
