If you like classical music but don’t want to travel to one of our cities, you can enjoy it locally, at Matlock. The new season for Matlock Music starts on Friday 7th October, 7.30pm at Highfields School, with a concert by the outstanding clarinet player Emma Johnson accompanied by Anthony Hewitt. Tickets for this concert are £14, with reductions if you take out membership. Tickets can normally be purchased on the night or in advance at various venues and online.
The programme for the evening includes:
Debussy – Premiere rapsodie, for clarinet and piano (1911)
Schumann – Romanzen for clarinet and piano, op. 94
Weber – Grand Duo Concertant in E flat, Op. 48, for clarinet and piano
Poulenc – Sonata for clarinet and piano
Tom Johnson – Bedtime Stories, for clarinet/narrator
Elgar – Canto Popolare (1904)
Chopin (arr. Johnson/West) – Fantasy Impromptu for clarinet and piano
Goodman (arr. Johnson/Lenehan) – Gershwin Medley
