What’s on Where this Week: October 28th to November 4th
Sunday October 28, 2012 by Mike A

Take heed good folk All Hallows Even is upon us, A Pagan ritual in celebration of the dead and lost souls .A time for strange creatures of the night to come hopping, scampering, slithering and sliding from within ancient cobwebbed crypts
summoned by the dark one, their grinning skeletal hosts long past caring or scaring. The portal to the Underworld slowly opened by unseen hands releases
myriads of Sprites, Elves, Goblins and Imps into the night. The leathery wings of Vampire bats beat the air , In a long forgotten patch of unconsecrated ground in the churchyard something is stirring , a fleeting shadow among the leaning tombstones, a glint of fangs in the moonlight a demonic figure vanishes into the swirling mist. Covens of sibilant cackling witches spew forth curses and spells
crouched around bubbling cauldrons. This night belongs to them, beware .Tap ,
tap, tap on your window probably a stray branch .or is it ?.
Re The Dovedale Dash, there is a separate junior race at 10am, which has been held for the past three years. Categories are under 10 and under 8 (age on 1/1/12), with no lower age limit, so long as you accompany the children. The course starts on the meadows, goes around Thorpe cloud, along the river and then comes up hill to the finish. Even little legs can be motivated to run up hill, with a tin of chocloate bars on offer at the finish. Get there early enough to register and make it across the meadows.
A couple of corrections to the Dovedale Dash entry: the dash is happening on Thorpe Pastures, and signing on happens at 9am. We’ve also fixed the broken link, which should point to http://www.dovedaledash.acwager.co.uk/
