We have received the following message from Sue H:
We know of a very nice Swiss girl who is hoping to spend 6 months in England from this July to improve her English. She is 20 and works as a secretary in the French speaking part (she also speaks German). Her English is not fluent enough for her to work as a secretary over here but she would prefer to find paid employment rather than have to pay for an expensive language school. We’re investigating possibilities such as language assistant in QEGS or waitressing. Does anyone have any ideas/openings, or does anyone need an au pair over the Summer? Please ring Sue H on 390334.
I would try and contact James Moffat at Biggin Hall, in the past few years they’ve had French and Finnish young girls working there to improve their English, they do a range of duties – waitressing, housekeeping etc. They are given accommodation and are also paid.
A lot of people from Biggin still keep in touch with the girls – they were made to feel very welcome – in fact one of the local lads now lives with one of them in France with their baby boy!
That sounds a very good idea. Thank you. Will look up his number.
