It is coming to the end of another horticultural year, Open Gardens was a success and showcased our beautiful village, thank you to everyone who opened their gardens and helped on the day. Despite difficult growing conditions this year many of you entered produce in the the horticultural show, although we could always do with more entries. This year’s trips to Scampston Walled Garden and Jackson Wold in North Yorkshire and Bransdale in Rutland (Geoff Hamiltons garden) were enjoyed by all, thank you to Glynis for organising. Thanks to all those who have paid their membership subscriptions and contributed to the funds raised at these events; the society was able to make donations to Football Friday, Parwich Over 60’s, Parwich.Org, Parwich School Eco Committee and the Parwich Church.
2017 will see a few changes on the committee as both Lesley Goodman as secretary and Liz Henbery as treasurer are stepping down. Lesley first joined the committee in 2008, organising Open Gardens since 2010 and became our secretary in 2012, she will however remain as a valued member of the team. Liz first joined the committee in 2006 becoming the treasurer in 2010, Liz has decided to have a well earned rest from the society, can we tempt her back sometime? A big thank you ladies for all your hard work. The new secretary and treasurer respectively will be Sue Ash and Lynn Comley.
Subscriptions for 2017 are due in January and letters will be circulated to members soon.
Membership remains the same, £2 per person, this entitles you to subsidised garden trips, discounted entries to the annual horticultural show, 50% discount off seeds and 15% off all other items at Sutton’s Seed Catalogue. Please ask Helen Pitts if you would like a catalogue.
Thank you for your continued support. New members are always very welcome.
