Parwich Village Action Group – Community & Sports Hall Facilities
See also the web pages for the Parwich Memorial Hall.
Out of the original 2000 survey we were investigating the practicality of a new combined sports and village hall next to the playing fields. However the consensus of the village was that the village hall facilities should remain on the present site. Also the redevelopment of the Ashbourne Leisure Centre took place around this time, reducing the potential demand for Sports Hall facilities here. Our Sub-Group looking at this was disbanded, pending new aims.
In 2004 the Memorial Hall Management Committee held a community vote including Alsop, Pikehall and Ballidon as well as just Parwich. This vote was in favour of a new build on the present site. The following was included in the 2004 Management Plan:
Aims:
- Redevelop the community hall facilities on the Memorial Hall site in line with the identified needs.
- Identify separately the needs, if any, for improved sports pavilion facilities at the playing fields
Planned Action:
- Work with the Memorial Hall Management Committee (and as appropriate their sub-groups) to confirm the design, seek funding and establish a timetable for redeveloping the community hall facilities on the Memorial Hall site.
- Discus at our next open meeting what steps if any are required in relation to improving sports pavilion facilities.
Comments
Members of the Village Action Group and its sub-groups have been involved in various aspects of the Memorial Hall redevelopment, but we currently have no formal links with the project.
Since the 2004 Review a group has been set up, independent of the Village Action Group, to manage the sports facilities in conjunction with Parwich Parish Council. Obviously they will have important input into any further review of the Village Plan.
