UPDATE: We hope you enjoyed this April Fool’s post. Needless to say, not a word of it is true!
PARWICH.ORG is delighted to announce some very exciting news for the village. The Prince William and his new wife, Catherine, are planning to spend some time in Parwich as part of their honeymoon tour of the UK. Although the exact date is still being kept as a strict state secret, we can confirm that they will be staying at Tom’s Barn for two nights in the spring.
In order to provide the happy couple with maximum privacy during their stay, residents of Monsdale Lane will be asked to vacate their homes for the duration of the royal visit. However, special four-poster camp beds will be provided in the Memorial Hall for all those affected.
To mark the event, a “red white and blue” Royal Wedding tulip has been specially bred and bulbs have already been secretly planted along Monsdale Lane. Fingers crossed that they will be at their peak, to coincide with the royal visit.
Additionally, some of the village twitchers have been secretly training our small population of Jenkins Thrushes to incorporate parts of the National Anthem into their song.
Really?
someone please tell me that this is a wind-up ?
Just been on the radio, so must be true. Where can you buy those four poster camp beds? I want one.
Harry: the camp beds are actually being supplied by Kensington Palace, and as far as we know they aren’t available in retail outlets. It’s enough to make me feel jealous that Creamery Lane isn’t being vacated as well!
I believe they’ve booked a table at The Horns for Sunday Carvery.
It has just been on sky news
We have been understandably busy all day (hot lines to wedding planners) so the fact that the news has leaked out has only just reached us!
Of course we have been sworn to secrecy so cannot divulge all the preparations and plans that are continuing apace and we will instead make every attempt to appear to the world that life goes on as normal.
However, we can warn that the happy couple will enjoy the comforts of Tom’s Barn so much that they are unlikely to venture much further than Creamery Lane, apart from their lunch at the Horns and possibly the odd trip at dead of night to the Sycamore and the Legion. In order to preserve their privacy they will be heavily disguised on every occasion.
In order to avoid any possibility of showing unwitting disrespect loyal Creamery Lane citizens are strongly advised therefore to greet all those living anywhere near Tom’s Barn with deep and humble bows and frequent offers of hospitality …
For obvious reasons we wish it to be understood that Tom’s Barn from now on will be known as The William and Catherine Honeymoon Boudoir.
Clearly the Prince is planning to turn into a crazy frog … https://parwich.org/2008/04/07/april-fools-post-spoofs-church-bigwigs/
Tis also said on t’interweb that stephen fry will be there..also theres talk of cake,.forgive me iam just sharing info .
wow this is great news,it`ll be very dificult to keep this a secret but I`m sure we`ll manage, once again WOW! I can hardly beleive it,truly fantastic.
Particularly good to hear that the Jenkins thrushes are making a welcome reappearance and so pleased to read that Will and Catherine will be able to escape. If they tried hiding here in Auckland then there would be on such secrecy – the place seems obsessed with the wedding!
Wow, Robert! And again, wowee! We’re doing our best to help stem the gossip and rumours – will people believe the story we’re putting out? http://www.tomsbarn.co.uk/tomsbarnblog/a-very-special-visit/
