In October 1975, Time Magazine in the USA published a news feature on the police raid that took place at the so-called “Red House” (better known as White Meadow House), which was then being used as a training centre for the Workers’ Revolutionary Party. The article has now been made available online, and makes for fascinating reading.

I can remember what great parties they put on in the mid to late 70’s at Christmas time for all the locals. I went to 2 or 3 of them. They always put on a great buffet and loads of booze (everything free) and a concert/cabaret (there was always loads of actors and TV stars there.) One year Vanessa Redgrave sang “where are the clowns” while playing the piano.
