We have had a huge amount of rain dumped on us overnight….and more is expected during Saturday. There has certainly been an unprecedented quantity of water coming off Parwich Hill which will undoubtedly have overloaded the brook running through the village. Please add your comments here to inform the village on the state of play.

Update: Thanks to Jason for sending in this screen capture, showing the state of play overnight. As Jason says: “What shall we call her?”

We have never seen so much water come down Smithy Lane before. At around 2am it formed a rapidly flowing stream over the entire road surface, veering off down to the brook opposite Hall Gates.
The volume of water has receded now (4.15am) to more normal levels.
Its not often that you get woke up in the middle night by the noise of your wheelie bin floating down your path…..!
I hope no one was hurt.
i hope my car still works “and many others”
8.15am Saturday 6/9/08
32mm rain yesterday, 39mm rain since midnight and 93mm so far this week – exceeding all my records.
At 01:30 the Smithy Lane River was flowing over my door step and I seriously wondered whether the car might end up on The Green! I hope that low lying properties are OK.
We too have never seen so much water. Our pond and rill have overflowed – no sign of the fish! Our menage is completely flooded and resembles the swimming pool I have always wanted. However I don’t quite fancy donning my cozzie in this weather! The poor horses are doomed to spend the day inside – fields just too wet and dangerous and menage unrideable.
I wrote my comments in a light hearted manner before I realised how dire the situation is in the village. Apart from a couple of flooded stables and rug room we have got off really lightly. Many peope in the village have suffered terrible damage with flooded homes. Does anyone need help? Please post replies if we can be of any assistance?
