Officially speaking, PARWICH.ORG is not much more than six months old – but strictly speaking, we’re a little older than that.
Exactly a year ago today, with no fanfare and no publicity, the very first test post appeared on this blog. It was a modest piece, which simply linked to a 1975 news feature on the notorious “Red House Raid” that had recently re-surfaced on the web.
Although four more posts appeared on the same day, this was followed by two months of “radio silence”, while we went away and discussed the pros and cons of running a village blog.
Would people read it? Would they contribute to it? Would there even be enough to write about?
As we could only find two other village blogs in the country – neither of which were being regularly updated – we could only hazard a guess, and take a leap of faith into untested waters.
Twelve months, 775 posts and 1,026 comments later (not to mention the 50+ “static” pages elsewhere on the site), it does rather look as if the experiment has paid off. And so, if you’ll allow us a brief moment of self-congratulation…
Happy Birthday to us!
Happy Birthday Parwich.org!
Aren’t Blogs brilliant!!
wow and long may it continue…it is my daily dip into the sanity of normal(!) life after a working day!
I don’t know what to write without it sounding a little pompous and sycophantic, but truly I think this blog has created history.
It has certainly changed my world – I can have an immediate up to date insight into all things Parwich no matter where I am (and I have logged on from all 4 corners of the globe).
It allows people to keep in touch, air their views (and they do!), and generally bring the community together.
It’s a real triumph and a tribute to those few of you (you know who you are) who spend so much time keeping it all running and posting stuff.
83,000 page views – not bad eh?
Congratulations to parwich.org.
It’s good to know PARWICH.ORG has two birthdays: the ‘real’ one, the 30th September, and the official launch date the 16th March.
But what about a party?
Happy Birthday PARWICH.ORG from the Red House. XXX
Congratulations and thank you for all the hard work of the people at Parwich.org. I log-on most days for my fix and although I have only contributed a couple of times, I am grateful to all of those who regularly do.
In this post Mike A did not mention that in our year on-line we have had some 4,334 spam comments aimed at the site. It is quite impressive that of these only two got through the spam filter and appeared briefly on the site before being deleted by the Team. Further no genuine comments have been erroneously diverted by the filter. So also a thank you to Word Press.
Peter T. I thought it was only the Queen that had two birthdays. Congrats to all involved – well done.
