As you might have noticed, there’s a quite a busy programme of events taking place in Parwich today. To recap:
- From 2pm to 4pm, the Stepping Stones Christmas Fayre is taking place at the Memorial Hall.
- At 5pm, we have the carol service at St. Peter’s Church, which this year will be a joint Anglican/Methodist event.
- And from 6pm to 8pm, the Memorial Hall will be hosting the Parwich First Responders Christmas Social.
A gold star to everyone who is attending all three!

I am sorry that I am unable to attend the first responders christmas social. But,would like to congraluate them on doing a wonderful job. The time and committment they give is greatly appreciated.
I quite agree. We are so lucky to have them and I know that many people devote hours of selfless time to be on standby – thank you. Unfortunately a ‘bad back’ is curtailing my weekend activities but good luck to everyone. ( Can the first responders fix backs)?
…and as if to underline just what a busy day it was yesterday, this website had its highest number of page views since Wakes Week, clocking up a whopping score of 821.
Did anyone go to all three events?
I only got to one, the Carol Service, which I agree with the Vicar was perhaps one of the best of the last twelve years. It is always magic when all the lights are switched off an the building is lit only by candles.
Also the Service included the side chapel altar cloth in memory of Dorothy Foden and the kneelers in memory of Ambrose Wilton. It is always good to see such fine craftsmanship, especially dedicated to the memory of such valued members of our community. Do pop into St. Peter’s to see them.
If you did not get to the Service there is always next Sunday’s Carol Service in Alsop Church, and hopefully the Carols on the Green.
I was sorry to miss the Carol Service, but I suspect my lungs were probably worn out from a) bellowing tonelessly along to Mamma Mia on Friday night (and if you were downwind of my honkings, then please accept my apologies), and b) all the whooping and screeching in the pub on Saturday night, at the end of the Strictly results show. Consider yourselves spared…!
