“As a correction to the draft Memorial Hall AGM minutes I would point out that I asked 3 questions.
My initial question to the chair was to ask why the committe had decided to dispense with the original Architects Marsh Grochowski, who had been cast as a major benefit to the project in the applications for the Big Lottery Grant! The Chair replied that it was because the new project team were cheaper.
My second question was to ask if there had been a open and fair procurement process to appoint the new Architect and Quantity Surveying team with all parties having the same tendering information. The Chairman confirmed that this had been the case.”
Q1,
they had no family links and weren’t willing to stump up the 60,000 maybe just guessing
Q2
Doubt it just a lot of behind the doors Meeting and back patting
Q3
Chris set it and i will try and suggest an answer as you won’t get one from the committe will you????
all of the above is just wild guessing and the plot line of an archers soap, it may be true it may not you guess
As a blog team we have decided to leave this comment on, even though it is almost verging on libellous. It is terribly sad when ill-informed people make such sweeping and inaccurate comments and are then unable to put their name to their comments – why? Because unlike the committee, all volunteers, who have published the minutes regularly in the file in the pub, with names, so that we know who is present, these anonymous bloggers know that they will not have to substantiate their views, justify or prove what they are saying.
These comments are extremely hurtful and distressing to members of the committee and we are very fortunate that their commitment, honesty and integrity to this project will not stop them, despite the negativity of a small number of people. As a blog team, we feel that the way forward is for “Born and Bred” to attend the next committee meeting on 20th April, when part of the Design Team will be present, to put their views forward and to be able to debate these issues in a fair handed way.
We are also verifying the validity of the email address. If it is not valid, then according to our comments policy this comment will be removed.
As a fellow member of the blog team, I’d like to echo what Jane is saying here. Our only reason for allowing commenters to use pseudonyms is in order to give them some measure of privacy on the world wide web, e.g. so that their comments don’t show up on Google searches for their own names. Many of our commenters have valid personal and/or professional reasons for requiring that anonymity, and we are happy to respect their positions.
However, the purpose of this policy is NOT to allow people to make unsubstantiated slurs on the integrity of other villagers, safe in the knowledge that they can comfortably hide behind their aliases.
It is therefore regrettable that “Born N Bred” has decided to exploit this loophole, by supplying us with an e-mail address that would seem to have been set up purely for the purpose of leaving these two comments. (It could also be a completely fake e-mail address, in which case the comments will be removed once this has been established.)
“Born N Bred” has cleverly covered himself/herself by adding comments such as “just wild guessing”, but his/her intention would seem to be clear: to smear the reputation of the committee by indulging in the sort of “dirty tricks” tactics that wouldn’t even be worthy of a Prime Minister’s special adviser.
We welcome a wide range of views on this blog, we are all in favour of healthy debate, and we most certainly do not want to start censoring people’s opinions – but it’s distressing to see “Born N Bred” resorting to such low tactics in order to make such a flagrantly disrespectful, needlessly inflammatory and factually unjustifiable point.
Well, “Born and Bred”, my comment is not a guess, as you say yours is, mine is born from a clear and abslute knowledge that what you allege in your “guesses” is totally untrue, unfounded, unfair and downright rude.
Further, if you were levelling such unsubstantiated allegations against me personally and you had the guts to put your name to it in print, I would see you in court.
Somtimes, I really wonder and give thanks that there are still good people who so selflessly give of their time and hard earned money for the common good, when faced with this kind of abuse.
Edmund Burke said all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
I would add the words “…..and constantly throw brickbats at those who try”.
Can I suggest that Born ‘n’ Breds comments are ignored and treated with the contempt that they deserve. To me they are just being posted to stir up ill feeling and have no valid point as they are apparently totally anonymous.
If people wish to use the comments facility on the blog to make nasty and possibly libellous allegations and insinuations, I think they should have the courage to publish their own name as the author of the comment. I understand Mike A’s explanation of the blog policy allowing anonymous comments to be made where people want to protect their own privacy, but I think it is cowardly and wrong to make serious allegations of misconduct under a pseudonym.
As “Born N Bred” has now confirmed their identity by private e-mail, we shall be leaving their comments in place. In keeping with our existing policy, we shall not be divulging their identity outside the blog team.
