Don’t miss this chance to visit a unique burial site just south of Haven Hill.  It was initially a neolithic excarnation (or sky burial) platform where the bodies of the dead were exposed for the elements and wildlife to strip the flesh off the bones.  In the bronze age a burial mound was built over the platform.  Roman offerings were also found here, and several Anglo Saxon warrior burials were inserted into the mound in the late seventh century at the time of the first Christian missionaries to our area.
