Hi there!
I just want to say how much I like your site!
I have no links with Parwich now, which makes me feel very sad, but after viewing your site I have a warm glow and stimulated memories.
My father’s was Frank Gibbs, brother of Leonard, Harold,Jessie,Audrey and Kenneth, son of Charles and Norah who lived on Lenscliffe. If any of your viewers have any information or photographs about any of them I would be very, very grateful. Also if anyone has any information of a Christina McMicking, who I never knew but have a piece of writing which she wrote about my father when he became Mayor of Glossop in 1960, I would love to be able to contact her or members of her family.
Parwich is held in soft spot in my heart and will always remain so. The fun I had at Wakes week as a child and even more fun as a teenager!
Keep up the good work!
Carole Bennett (nee Gibbs)
PS. It was great to watch the video of the wakes week walk, I was impressed by the number of young people there, all members of the Oddfellows Society.
Thank you to Carole for sending in this post, if you have any information that you would like us to pass on to her, either add it as a comment or send it to parwich@hotmail.com and we will forward it onto her.

Hi Carole. Sorry I can’t help you with your reminiscing, but was wondering if there are any links here with a house we believe to be called Lenscliffe which is currently up for rent. My Wife, children and myself are delighted with the area and see why so many people speak so highly of Parwich, but would love to find out some more about the house and landlord – the kind of detail that the estate agents would have no interest in even if they knew!!
Good luck with your hunt…I’m intrigued about “wakes week” now!!
Thanks
Alex Lewis
Hi Alex,
Yes, I think the house in question belonged to my Uncle Len. I think his daughters may be renting it out but I’m not sure. I loved his house, it was so warm and cosy. He enjoyed working in his garden, it was a credit to him.
Parwich is a beautiful village in a beautiful part of Derbyshire. I am so lucky to have spent happy times there.
