Available online or in the Sycamore, the Ashbourne News Telegraph has the following stories of local interest:
P.1 – Tom goes back to school – Tom Chambers is back on prime time TV in Waterloo Road next week – see page 3 for full story including comment from our village school headteacher, Caroline Rodgers.
p.2 – Speed cameras out and about – this week police speed cameras will be in use on the A515 from Ashbourne to Alsop en le Dale.
p4. – Second wave of swine flu expected to hit county – health bosses are preparing for a second wave of swine flu as cases multiply across Derbyshire.
p.19 – Wedding album – a great photo of David and Julie (née Bradbury) Sherratt’s wedding.

There are a couple of things on p.7 with less obvious local links that could be missed.
The article “Your chance to get fit with walking” mentions walks each week from Ashbourne Leisure Centre, some of which are led by Parwich’s own Gill L. I had discussed it with Gill today, wondering whether she wanted anything on the Blog, but at present the walks are just in the Ashbourne area. Gill said they would be planning some further afield next year and that she would let us know if any were in our area.
Some people will know the model in the half page advert at the bottom of the page; she is my god-daughter Amy who has been visiting the Parwich regularly since she was three years old.
I wish I’d have known about your god-daughter – I could have made some kind of clever comment about a stunner in the stunner.
