It is good to hear about the successes of former residents, and the Rev Christopher Harrison must be very proud of his son, Peter, gaining a scholarship to Clare College, Cambridge. Well done!
Peter has been awarded the organ scholarship at Clare, to begin next autumn. He will be reading maths and physics alongside this.
It was of course very useful, in previous years, having a village church with a freely accessible organ on which Peter could practise, and he played for services on several occasions both at Parwich and other churches in the group. He also received a good training in church music by being in the choir at St Oswald’s church, Ashbourne.
Over the past four years at Winchester he has been taught by Malcolm Archer, who was previously director of music at St Paul’s Cathedral, and also by Paul Provost, who was organ scholar at St John’s College, Cambridge. In Nottingham Peter now plays for some services at St Mary’s, and also sometimes sings in St Mary’s choir.
