Please keep us updated, this is particularly useful for those in 2WD.
Just spoken to someone who has driven from Chesterfield to Monyash and they had no problems, the road through Monyash just needs to be taken carefully.
12.30pm – Just come back from Monyash and the A515 is OK, there is a lot of snow drifting onto the southbound carriageway between Parsley Hay and the Biggin turn off, with the fog coming down, just drive with care.
The gritter has come down the Alsop Road this morning after 8.25am and before 12.15pm, so that is good.

I’ve just travelled to Ashbourne via Bradbourne/Brackendale/Kniveton and the road is ok for a 2WD but care is still needed.
I’ve just been into Ashbourne via Alsop – the 515 is completely clear that way and the Alsop road is just a bit slushy in places – care needed in a 2WD – and OK until you meet the bus coming the other way!
A515 to Buxton fully open (despite signs advising otherwise). Tried to run Lynne off the road at the Alsop Road A515 intersection, but she was concentrating on not slipping down the hill so much she didn’t even see me!
True!
Has the gritter been through Alsop en le Dale and Parwich last night/this morning?
A belated note of thanks to Mike and the 2 cars that stopped near Alsop on the run up the main A515. Andy had driven up the hill early this morning around 7.30 am and came back to help me up the slope but in the process ended up blocking the road for other cars coming out of the village.
So sorry for holding you up and thanks for your patience, we both managed the hill and the A515 to Ashbourne was fine.
The gritters had been either overnight or early this morning as the Alsop Road was OK apart from the hill I’ve mentioned.
The road from Parwich to the B5056 has been gritted. The lane through Bradbourne was clear and fine, except for the moment when we had to give way on an upward slope to a 4X4 coming downhill, and nearly got stuck in the snow at the side of the road… grr…!
Incidentally, the snow ensured that yesterday was the busiest ever day on PARWICH.ORG, nudging ahead of Wakes Week 2009 (the previous record holder) with just under 1800 page views.
Have just come across the A515 from the Monyash turning and unless you have a 4WD, I wouldn’t recommend trying to use it. Even then care is needed as the snow is blowing out of the fields and forming large drifts.
I’ll second that Cheryl!
Trev just back from Manchester via Buxton train station – lots of drifts and a rather hairy journey home!
