As the snow recedes, it is worth reflecting on those people who have kept things going during our recent spot of weather.
We have just received a note of appreciation for amazing milklady Christine G, who did not miss a day in her deliveries with a lorry full of highly spillable milk! We really don’t know quite how she did it, but her reliable service is very much appreciated.
Let us know of any other people who went beyond the call of duty.

I would like to echo the thanks above for the regular milk deliveries. Also a big thank you to Janet for her regular drives to the Cash & Carry in Derby to keep the Shop stocked; also for her extra trips to Ashbourne, etc. when deliveries failed.
Our new postman had something of a baptism of ice; however my post arrived most days.
Parwich and Alsop were only able to be accessible for most people because of the gritting lorries. How important this is, was illustrated by the problems on Monday when the roads weren’t gritted.
I would also like to thank those people who ( via the blog ) kept us informed about the road conditions during the bad weather.
I agree with you all – the milklady, the postman and the newspaper delivery man have all been amazing. (Our rubbish hasn’t been collected since before Christmas.)
I also want to say thank you, like Ash, to those people who offered lifts, did shopping and those who kept everyone informed about the state of the roads.
We have given the link to all our guests coming here from other parts of the country throughout all the snowy weather and they – and we – have so appreciated their being able to find out what the roads really were like once they got here. It’s been the road up to our gate and our drive that have proved the final straw for several of them!
Snow returning on Wednesday, apparently…
I agree with prevous comments about Janet who let us have some of her own coal, the milklady who has not missed a delivery, the postman. Also to Alan who very kindly gave Matt a lift into Ashbourne for supplies as we were struggling to get our cars off the drive The travel comments have been particularly useful for informing Matt the best routes home from work.
