Is it less icy this morning? Thank you particularly to those early morning drivers who update the blog.

Weather

I’ve driven to Sheffield this morning via Monyash (2nd turn off A515) and Hassop and the roads were fine. The main issue is visibility – particularly on the A515.
The icy patches on the Alsop and Bradbourne roads have gone – it’s just a bit foggy in places.
Update on 03/02/2010. Roads are very icy this morning so care is needed. Alsop road is quite bad all the way along where it has rained and then frozen and there are patches of ice on the A515 to Ashbourne, particularly on the hill going down from Tissington gates to Fenny Bentley.
I can second that. Going south to Ashbourne at 7:30 seemed ok, but going north at 8am there was significant black ice at the footbridge. Further north to Buxton better as it is actually milder here for a change!
Major bad journey home tonight (Wednesday). Left Buxton at 5:10pm (I know – part timer). Got stuck at Brierlow Bar on the A515, decided to cut across to A6 via Chelmorton. Driving conditions appalling. Home 1hr:45 mins later just a little bit stressed. Had to break NY resolution and reward myself with a pint of Oddfellow Ale.
I think the A6 and A515 are presently closed.
