Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone has a digital slr camera for sale? Perhaps someone who got a new one for Christmas?
Allie’s camera got broken (camera on tripod + energetic kitten = disaster).
Thanks,

Camera wanted

I have an old non-digital slr Olympus camera that Allie could have for nothing, if she wanted to try and get it converted.
I have no idea of how much this costs and whether the resultant camera would be any good.
Interesting thought Peter, and a very generous offer. I didn’t even know that was possible!
Has anyone ever converted a camera in this way? And how successful was it?
Thanks,
Debbie
Some years ago on a Radio 4 programme, it was being bemoaned that an enormous number of good slr cameras were being left at the back of cupboards or being unnecessarily scrapped when they could be easily converted to digital.
However I never hear any more about this, nor have I met anyone who has tried it.
I’ve just been Googling about this, and the answer seems to be that it’s not possible. The two types of camera are completely different. However, you can certainly reuse the old lenses on compatible digital cameras.
Have you tried some of the photographic shops and web auction sites etc ? My neighbour recently bought a high spec Cannon at half price.
Thanks Mike A & G – especially re the lenses! I did not know that!
