A 13.2hands bright bay 20 year old pony went missing from his field near Ashbourne, Derbyshire, on Saturday 2nd July, 2011. Please ring 07775 676651 with any information regarding his disappearance or his present whereabouts. He is micro chipped.
From the owner of the pony:
Seven ponies/horses kept in a field and only Oscar (Hollybrook Fortune Cookie) was stolen. The ponies were not visible from any lanes / roads. The ponies were in a paddock sectioned off with electric tape at the top of a lush 7 acre field and when checked at 10am on Saturday 2nd July the tape was intact. At 6.15pm when checked again the tape was snapped in one place and two plastic posts also snapped off. The electric tape was still switched on at the battery energiser. Six ponies were quietly grazing at the bottom of the 7 acre field. There was no sign of tampering with the two locks on the main access gate and there was no evidence of broken fence/ hedges where the pony could have left the field of his own accord. The 7 acre field has a public footpath running through it which at the top end has a footpath gate – I am not allowed to obstruct or lock this gate – this leads across one more field where sheep graze before leading out of a farm gate onto a country lane. The footpath gate did not have its hook on (quite common as walkers leave it off) but the piece of string was over the top of the gate post. My pony is of a nervous disposition and would not have been easy to catch by a stranger but I believe he was led through the foot path gate and off my land.”
