To help us through these difficult economic times, we have been wondering if we might be able to use the collective buying power of PARWICH.ORG to negotiate discounts on a range of products.
Starting the ball rolling in what we hope is a suitably festive fashion, we have negotiated a 20% discount for a special Christmas mixed case of fine wines from Averys Wine Merchants.
This case, which usually sells at £125, has been discounted to £99.50. Designed as a sampler of the best value wines currently in the Averys range, it also contains some extra special bottles for Christmas.
Please click here for detailed tasting notes of all twelve wines in the mixed case, in printable PDF format.
To take advantage of this offer, simply contact James Cole at Averys, and quote “Parwich”.
James can be contacted by phone on direct line (01275 812 210) or by email at JamesCole@averys.com.
Please click here to read what James has said about this offer.
For guaranteed delivery before Christmas, please place your orders by this Friday (December 16th). Note that you will still be able to place orders after this date, at the discounted rate.
Finally – if any of our readers know of other organisations who might be willing to offer discounts via PARWICH.ORG, please let us know!
This is what James Cole of Averys said about the offer.
As a personal Wine Advisor here at Averys, the question that I’m most often asked is; “What’s your favourite wine?”, yet there are so many great wines in the world that it’s impossible to pick just one. It was from one such discussion that the idea of a personal ‘Wine Advisor Selection’ was born: we would all combine our favourite wines and assemble a truly exciting mix of bottles that have impressed us enough to find a place in our own wine racks (or in my case, the recycling bin…).
So finally, after much deliberation, plenty of tasting, some more deliberation and much more tasting, we have assembled for your enjoyment the first Personal Wine Advisor Selection, comprising a range of wines to suit every palate from the world’s finest wine regions including: the Rhone Valley, Rioja, Bordeaux, Piedmont, Marlborough in New Zealand and Australia’s Yarra Valley.
Just a couple of the highlights from the whites are: a lightly oaked, delightful orchard fruit Burgundian style Chardonnay from the Yarra Valley; a zesty, citrus-fresh Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough and a deliciously soft, supple, mouth-filling white from the South of France. Iconic reds abound, with a monumental 2009 vintage Rhone from the Plan de Dieu or ‘Plain of God’, a rich, exuberantly fruity Rioja and a silky-smooth Pinot Noir from cool hillside vineyards.

As someone who is partial to the occasional glass (…….. what?), I’ve been using Averys for many years, and I’ve always been very happy with their wines. I hope that others will feel the same!
This is a great idea, and thanks to Kevin S for his recommendation. It may be because of living in the sticks as opposed to a big city, but our experience of Avery’s in Parwich has not been quite as successful. We did buy wine from them (no complaints about the quality of wine), and asked for it be delivered to a different address to the billing address. On three occasions they didn’t quite get that key element of the order right – each time we complained we were assured it would never happen again, and on the final occasion they took funds from my credit card for wine they did not deliver (to the wrong address) for several weeks. By way of an apology they offered to send me two free bottles – which never arrived (perhaps they were addressed to somewhere completely different?? – who would ever know). I would be interested to hear how others get on – maybe they have improved their delivery performance since?
Re-reading this, perhaps it’s a little churlish not to applaud this great idea, and maybe our experience of Avery’s is not representative (certainly the wines were always excellent, as Kevin says).
Sorry to hear you’ve had such a poor experience, Graham. We’ve been much luckier; we’ve happily swapped between four different stored delivery addresses over the last few years – Parwich, Nottingham, Biddulph and Manchester – and all orders have been successfully delivered, using just the one billing address.
Hoping that others will be similarly pleased with the service, as the wines really are great and the personal touch over the phone goes a long way; they know what we like, and they’re always putting us onto good new stuff.
