Families looking for something different to do over May Day Bank Holiday are invited to Lathkill Dale on Monday 7th May to follow a variety of short trails with a difference!
The ‘Lathkilltrail’ day being organised by Natural England will provide visitors with the chance to folow a range of short trails including a ‘blindfold rope trail’, a ‘microtrail’, a ‘Stickly Prickly’ scavenger hunt, an ‘un-nature trail’ and, for the first time this year a ‘geocaching’ style treasure hunt. All tof the trails will be designed to give families and other the chance to get to know Lathkilldale and its wildlife in an usnusual and enjoyable way.
Time: 11am – 3:30pm. Drop in at any time for as long as you want.
Cost: No charge for activities but donations are welcome.
Special requirements: The event base will be by the main track in an easily accessible part of the dale. If you plan to go further afield on the reserve, please bring suitable clothing and footwear. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead or under close control, especially as birds will be nesting along the river.
Booking required: Not for the event as a whole but these wishing to make use of the GPS devices for the geocaching activity are advised to contact Paul Maddox (contact details below) prior to the event to book one of these for one of the following ¾ hour slots: 11:00 – 11:45 11:45 – 12:30 12:30 – 1:15 1:15 – 2:30 2:30 – 3:15. Any spaces left unbooked will be available to take up on the day. Those borrowing GPS devices will be asked to leave a credit card or car keys as a deposit to ensure return of the device.
