Can anybody please recommend to us a good tree surgeon?
We have two innocuous looking damson trees by our back door, which have kept us, and lots of other folk in the village, supplied over the years with a never-ending crop of quite lovely damsons every autumn. Unfortunately, some cracks have appeared in that corner of the house and our insurance company is convinced that it is the damsons’ fault and are insisting that we must have them cut down.
It is very upsetting, but, sadly, there is no arguing. So, we need a tree surgeon that someone can genuinely recommend, please? Thank you, Marion

this is an all to common problem . People often plant saplings in there gardens
and before you know where you are the sapling has turned into a large tree, which has the potential to cause damage to the foundations of your property.I did post a piece about this on the blog earlier in the year. Insurance companies are becoming very nervous of large trees in small gardens. If you have a tree in your garden it needs to be managed and be kept to a height which is managable, say no more than 20ft tall. if in doubt contact your insurance company. Mr Earl Yeomans or Ben King from thorpe will attend to your tree
Here is the link to Terry’s piece on the Blog
We used Ben King (of Arbormasters Ltd 07768 757294) and found him to be very good and reliable.
As a matter of fact Charlie Twig of Pike Hall who is officially the worlds smallest man standing at a mere thirty inches tall has recently qualified as a bonsai tree surgeon.
Thank you all for these (mostly, Paul?) very helpful tips, and we’ve had one or two other names recommended as well. Next step Peak Park…
