David Goulden, ( referred to by Mike as “our kid”) asked us to post the following :
As an occasional overseas visitor, can I use the website to say thanks to the village for its kind support in the last couple of days following the death of my brother.
It came as a great shock – as I guess it did to many of you – but it was especially painful to be far away in Vienna and to know nothing.
Generously, several people have taken the time to e-mail me and the information has been of great comfort.
Mike was a simple guy who liked the simple things in life – community, integrity and purpose. His was a good life, well-lived.
His funeral will be on July 30 in Derby.
