DERBYSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL COMMUNITY BUILDINGS GRANT
Derbyshire County Council is looking to fund the following:
- Local groups working to make a big difference in their community through planning to spend money on multi-use buildings or equipment
- Projects which will benefit the community for at least 10 years
- Groups which have already raised some funds and have got plans to cover future running costs
- Projects which can start before 31st December 2013
Grants of between £10,000 and £250,000 are available.
Closing Date
Groups can apply any time until 30th September 2012.
Who can apply?
- Unincorporated associations or incorporated associations, trusts or companies set up and registered as a charity
- Unincorporated associations set up as voluntary groups or community groups
- Community Interest Companies
- Companies limited by guarantee
- Community benefit societies
Groups must be formally constituted, have a bank account with at least 2 independent signatories as well as a governing document/list of governing members and a set of rules.
What type of projects can get a grant?
Facilities must provide a range of activities and services. The fund is available for large scale permanent projects – not small moveable assets – and could support a variety of projects of different types and sizes.
These might include:
- New community facilities e.g. community buildings
- Community building refurbishment e.g. extension, modernisation or conversion (including buildings where ownership has been transferred from Derbyshire County Council)
- Fixed sports and play equipment e.g. multi-use games areas, outdoor gyms and playgrounds.
What the Community Building Grant can’t fund
- Facilities that are only used for a limited purpose or by a single community of interest e.g. single sports club
- Facilities that are for administration or office space and storage facilities that do not provide a multi-purpose community space.
- Facilities used solely for religious activities or for any political activities
- Administrative costs associated with establishing the project or scheme e.g. professional fees for architects etc.
