If you ever thought for a moment that your faith in human nature was misplaced you’d be right. When the green bin gang rolled up on Thursday I rushed over with the mornings clippings & weeds to top up my half empty bin, with remarkable speed the bins were already being emptied. Enter green bin technician with incredulous expression,’ Good morning ‘I said cheerily,
,Ominous shake of head, ‘can’t take that mate’, ‘why not ?,one asked,’can’t take any extra mate’,I was beginning to think that I had known this chap for years.’But it isn’t extra ‘ I pleaded, ‘all three bins were half empty’. Reinforcements arrive from wagon,’Wot’s up mate’ explanation number two,’my mates right mate can’t take any extra besides we’ve only got a small wagon mate’, ‘of course silly me ,I should have realised this “extra” load could have been the straw that broke the camels back I just hope that their wage packets are half empty or even half full this week.
In the past the bin men have been very helpful, one year when we were tidying up the Green for Wakes, they emptied the green bins once and then stopped again on their way out of the Village to empty them a second time, giving us the time to refill the bins with more grass rakings
You were lucky Peter, they must have had the big wagon that particular day.
That’s the problem dust cart bigger but cannot get up rathbourne croft. At to ring last week, looks like I will have to ring again for them to collect refuse this week
